When it came time to develop a city controlled area within the Columbus Park neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, Columbus Park Developers enlisted the help of Prairie Fire Development Group. Assisting with financing, construction, and development, Prairie Fire was able to create a vibrant community for housing, retail, and neighborhood use.
CP Lofts, an apartment community of 108 market rate and affordable units across five buildings, was specifically designed for the creative class. The projects amenity package includes a collaboration center, cyber café, creative studios, fitness center, gallery space, pocket park & sculpture garden, and a demonstration kitchen. A farm to table community garden is also in the works.
Project completion is projected for December 2016, with plans currently under way to begin phases two & three.
Total Development Cost – $20 million
- Objective – Blight removal, redevelopment, neighborhood stabilization, address growing need for affordable and attainable housing in downtown Kansas City
- Financing – $14.3 million LIHTC, Rural Housing Improvement District (RHID), Moderate Income Housing Grant (MIH), Conventional Debt
